Pain Management / Rehabilitative Care - Chronic and acute pain can be debilitating and lower your quality of life. Studies have shown that massage is extremely effective in decreasing pain levels, establishing better range of motion, and improving overall health. Massage can be used to treat pain, fatigue, and tension associated with a wide variety of health conditions with little to no side effects.* Massage is a great addition to other rehabilitative modalities such as physical therapy and chiropractic care. Light, moderate or deep tissue massage can be performed according to your relaxation and pain-management needs.
Pregnancy - Pregnancy is a joyous event, but it is also a time of tremendous change for a woman's body. Pain, tension, fatigue, and mood swings go hand in hand when you're expecting. Regular massage during pregnancy can lower pain levels, increase flexibility, improve quality of sleep, lower blood pressure, decrease swelling and promote overall wellness. I am certified as a Pre and Perinatal Massage Therapist, so you can be confident that you are receiving the best care for you and your baby during your massage treatments. A semi-reclined and side lying position are used during treatments to keep both mom and baby safe throughout your session. This massage is particularly effective for any mommy-to-be that suffers from low back and/or sciatic nerve pain related to pregnancy.**
Athletes - Studies reveal that regular massage lowers the risk of injury, improves range of motion, increases flexibility and allows athletes to recover from training more quickly. I have extensive experience working with athletes of all fitness levels. So whether you're wanting to keep your back limber for your golf game, train for a marathon, soothe aches and pains from a strenuous session at the gym or just recover from your venture as a weekend warrior, massage can play an important part in your athletic wellness.
Relaxation/Stress Relief - Stress can have extremely harmful effects on the body. Just take a look at this link for a detailed list of the dangers of stress from the American Institute of Stress! Many Americans live and work in an environment of chronic stress. Massage can do much to alleviate stress and tension and with regular treatments, reverse its adverse effects on the body. Light, moderate or deep tissue massage can be performed according to your relaxation needs.
Headache Relief - Don't let headaches steal even one more minute of your life! Tension and migraine headaches are definitely painful, but they can also take hours or even days from your everyday life. I have had great success with treating clients for headache pain. Regular massage treatments can reduce the frequency, duration and intensity of headaches. I use a treatment of trigger point therapy combined with hot and cold compresses to alleviate headaches and tension in the jaw, neck, shoulders and scalp. Many people find that the initial massage relieves headache tension as well as decreases pain. You may choose to follow up with regular maintenance treatments to keep headaches from recurring.
Ultimate Hot Stones Therapy - Hot Stones Therapy is the use of heated basalt lava rocks on the body during a massage to promote deep relaxation of muscles. The heat and weight of the stones can also increase the depth of massage strokes into the muscles if a deeper massage is desired. This is the ultimate in relaxation!
Clinical/Medical Massage - This massage is for clients who are interested in filing their massage treatments on their personal insurance, worker's compensation claims or personal injury claims. Many insurances DO NOT pay for massage. We ask that you check with your personal insurance provider or case worker to determine whether massage is a covered service under your healthcare plan. I require a doctor's prescription/orders prior to your first massage. Insurance cases are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please contact my office for more information regarding clinical massage requirements.
*There are contraindications to receiving massage with certain health issues. A massage therapist is not a physician and as such, massage services are not used to diagnose and/or treat medical conditions. Please speak with your health care provider and contact my office for more information regarding whether massage is right for you.
**Although pregnancy massage is extremely beneficial to expectant mothers, there are certain contraindications to receiving massage with certain health issues. I require that all of my moms be at least 6 weeks along in their pregnancy AND have an established healthcare provider prior to your first pregnancy massage treatment. Massage is perfectly safe for mothers in their first trimester as long as they are healthy and have a certified pregnancy massage therapist administer massage treatment.
